There is still unrest in Ferguson MO."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"shariff\" data-title=\"August 16 &#8211; There is still unrest in Ferguson MO.\" data-info-url=\"http:\/\/ct.de\/-2467514\" data-backend-url=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/plugins\/shariff-sharing\/backend\/index.php\" data-temp=\"\/tmp\" data-ttl=\"60\" data-service=\"gftr\" data-services='[\"googleplus\",\"facebook\",\"twitter\",\"reddit\",\"info\"]' data-image=\"\" data-url=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/?p=330\" data-lang=\"en\" data-theme=\"colored\" data-orientation=\"horizontal\"><\/div><p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ferguson-mo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-331\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/ferguson-mo.jpg\" alt=\"ferguson mo\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since today is Saturday I taking a break from hospital-related topics and moving to one of the incidents that has been in the news all week. \u00a0From my title you have already guessed I am talking about the racial tensions in Ferguson Missouri following the shooting a black teenager by a white police officer. \u00a0Sadly this event has provoked a crisis. \u00a0The severity of the crisis was made clear when Jay Nixon, Governor of Missouri, brought in the Missouri State Patrol to provide law enforcement instead of allowing that duty to remain with the local police department. \u00a0His move was well-intentioned, he wanted to end the violence and calm tempers.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly the nation learned as we awoke on Saturday morning that violence and looting had taken place in the early hours before the sun rose. \u00a0I chose this picture for my post because rather than documenting violence it shows people in the community listening to leadership. \u00a0It shows the right method for people to use to get the information they need regarding the initial tragedy. \u00a0My pain in reading what has continued to happen is that the original death and violence has been met with additional violence and personal injury.<\/p>\n<p>My prayer is that citizens in Ferguson can move to non-violent ways of listening and speaking what is in their hearts and on their minds. \u00a0The events of the past week remind me of events from the 1960&#8217;s. \u00a0History has shown that was a painful time for many cities in our nation. \u00a0It is not a trend that I want reappear even in one community much less spread to other communities. \u00a0I invite you to join me in praying for peace!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
