Taking time to share Thanksgiving"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"shariff\" data-title=\"Sept 13 &#8211; Taking time to share Thanksgiving\" data-info-url=\"http:\/\/ct.de\/-2467514\" data-backend-url=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/plugins\/shariff-sharing\/backend\/index.php\" data-temp=\"\/tmp\" data-ttl=\"60\" data-service=\"gftr\" data-services='[\"googleplus\",\"facebook\",\"twitter\",\"reddit\",\"info\"]' data-image=\"\" data-url=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/?p=418\" data-lang=\"en\" data-theme=\"colored\" data-orientation=\"horizontal\"><\/div><p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/thankful-heart-a_std_t_nv.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-419\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/thankful-heart-a_std_t_nv-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"thankful heart, a_std_t_nv\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/thankful-heart-a_std_t_nv-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/thankful-heart-a_std_t_nv.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Every day I encounter many people who ask me to pray for them.\u00a0 I am happy to meet them and pray with them because that is my calling.\u00a0 This past week a family requested me to visit them, and I did so very willingly.\u00a0 I also had some hesitation because of the particular health issues of their patient.\u00a0 Frankly, I was afraid the patient\u2019s health was declining and that was the reason my presence was requested.\u00a0 I was pleased to see that the patient was off the ventilator, sitting up in bed and talking.\u00a0 The spouse introduced me to the patient and told me about all the times I had been with the family praying over the past week.\u00a0 The patient still being weak said \u201cthank you\u201d and smiled.\u00a0 The spouse said she had requested that come so I could share in the victory of healing that was happening.\u00a0 Smiles and hugs were exchanged.\u00a0 It was probably one of my most enjoyable visits of the week.<\/p>\n<p>This exchange has resonated in my mind and gotten me to thinking about the codes we have at the hospital.\u00a0 We have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Code Blue (Cardiac Arrest)<\/li>\n<li>MET (Medical Evaluation Team for sudden declines in health and falls)<\/li>\n<li>Code Yellow (Disaster)<\/li>\n<li>And many other codes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In our own lives I think we should add a \u201cCode T\u201d to the list.\u00a0 The \u201cT\u201d is for the word <strong>thankful<\/strong>.\u00a0 \u00a0All of us have many good things that happen routinely in our lives.\u00a0 I know myself I am not as disciplined to give God thanksgiving as I am to ask for help when things overwhelm me.\u00a0 I am pledging to my readers and myself to be more diligent about calling a mental \u201c<strong>CODE T<\/strong>\u201d and giving God thanksgiving when I recognize something as being good.\u00a0 Will you join me?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every day I encounter many people who ask me to pray for them.\u00a0 I am happy to meet them and pray with them because that is my calling.\u00a0 This past week a family requested me to visit them, and I did so very willingly.\u00a0 I also had some hesitation because of the particular health issues &hellip;
