Daily Blogging Returns, My Trip Over the Brick Wall"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"shariff\" data-title=\"Sept 22 &#8211; Daily Blogging Returns, My Trip Over the Brick Wall\" data-info-url=\"http:\/\/ct.de\/-2467514\" data-backend-url=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/plugins\/shariff-sharing\/backend\/index.php\" data-temp=\"\/tmp\" data-ttl=\"60\" data-service=\"gftr\" data-services='[\"googleplus\",\"facebook\",\"twitter\",\"reddit\",\"info\"]' data-image=\"\" data-url=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/?p=425\" data-lang=\"en\" data-theme=\"colored\" data-orientation=\"horizontal\"><\/div><p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/brick-wall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-426\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/brick-wall.jpg\" alt=\"brick wall\" width=\"176\" height=\"117\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFacing a Brick Wall\u201d is an expression we use in conversation to indicate we have come upon a stopping place we did not expect and did not desire.\u00a0 Some writers also call this \u201cwriters block\u201d when they are unable to write when they really do want to write.\u00a0 My daily readers will notice I have not blogged for roughly a week.\u00a0 I was \u201cFacing a Brick Wall\u201d.\u00a0 The problem with brick walls is that if you are not athletic like I am not, you can\u2019t scale the wall.\u00a0 I am afraid of heights so a tall ladder is not an option.\u00a0 Going around the wall also was not an option.<\/p>\n<p>My brick wall was making a difficult decision.\u00a0 I found myself in the shoes of many of the patients and family members I deal with regularly at the hospital.\u00a0 They have been given facts, they have been given options, and they do not like any of the options to deal with facts they have been given.\u00a0 Difficult decisions are one of the hardest things we face in life.\u00a0 And it appears many of us have to face more of them than seems fair at times.<\/p>\n<p>When I come along-side a person or family wresting with a difficult decision I listen.\u00a0 I offer assurance.\u00a0 I try to get them to think about their values and what direction their values give them in possible responses.\u00a0 Sometimes we pray, but even if prayer is not spoken at the moment these conversations and times of non-anxious presence have a sacramental nature to them.<\/p>\n<p>This week I took my own advice and found a prayer partner to help me sort my way through the decision I was making.\u00a0 Now that the decision has been made, I am able to write again.\u00a0 I write not out of sense of duty but out of sense of transparency \u2013 being open about my work and my approaches to life events in the hopes that what I write can benefit others.\u00a0 If you have missed my daily postings I am glad to tell you I am back to writing.\u00a0 Thank you for reading along with me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cFacing a Brick Wall\u201d is an expression we use in conversation to indicate we have come upon a stopping place we did not expect and did not desire.\u00a0 Some writers also call this \u201cwriters block\u201d when they are unable to write when they really do want to write.\u00a0 My daily readers will notice I have &hellip;
