How do others introduce you?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"shariff\" data-title=\"Jan. 30 &#8211; How do others introduce you?\" data-info-url=\"http:\/\/ct.de\/-2467514\" data-backend-url=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/plugins\/shariff-sharing\/backend\/index.php\" data-temp=\"\/tmp\" data-ttl=\"60\" data-service=\"gftr\" data-services='[\"googleplus\",\"facebook\",\"twitter\",\"reddit\",\"info\"]' data-image=\"\" data-url=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/?p=682\" data-lang=\"en\" data-theme=\"colored\" data-orientation=\"horizontal\"><\/div><p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/hands-shaking.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-684\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.shelquist.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/hands-shaking.jpg\" alt=\"hands shaking\" width=\"413\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who read my blog daily you have noticed I have missed a few days.\u00a0 All I can say is this has been a hectic week.\u00a0 My topic today is about the things we learn about new people we meet by the way they are introduced to us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Meeting new people for the first time is an event that happens to me consistently each day.\u00a0 Sometimes I have to make an introduction myself and in other instances someone else makes the introduction.\u00a0 If you listen and watch carefully along with the words used, the inflection of the voice and body language can tell you about the level of cohesion of the two people involved.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here are two examples.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I met an employee and her husband in the cafeteria at the hospital today.\u00a0 I had never met the husband before.\u00a0 I was introduced by the spouse as, \u201cThis is our wonderful Chaplain Chuck.\u201d\u00a0 She was smiling as she said the words and her voice light and happy in tone.\u00a0 It immediately put the husband at ease when he realized his spouse and I were friends.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I entered a patient room and was told my one family member, \u201cThis is my mother\u2019s husband.\u201d\u00a0 The tone and the lack of smile on his face told me that as son he was being dutiful by making an introduction but there was obvious emotional distance between him and the man his mother chose to marry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This got me to thinking what types of subtle messages do I send when I introduce others?\u00a0 Do I project confidence and trust in the other person?\u00a0 Do I let any apprehensions I have about the other person be visible?\u00a0 How does my introduction facilitate or hinder the growing of the relationship between the two people I am introducing?\u00a0 I have found these are good questions to think about and I hope they help you as you make new introductions throughout the week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
